THE RETURN OF LESLEY GORE
----------------------------------
PART 1
----------------------------------
Luke only had one fear: Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows.
It was a very nice afternoon- almost too nice. Luke laid on the living room floor, eating a bowl of Fruit Circles with no milk.
Just then, Carol came in. "Luke!" she said.
"Yes?" he groaned, sitting up.
"Our milk has been mysteriously replaced with chocolate syrup!"
"Aw, sweet!"
"Yeah, but I needed that milk for the cake I was randomly going to make for no particular reason!"
"Oh, then that's a problem." said Luke, "Let's run to the store and get some more then."
So the couple walked out the front door, and immediately were blinded.
"GAHHH!!!!" gasped Carol. "Why is it so bright??!!!"
"Back inside, back inside!!" yelled Luke, and they dashed back into the house.
"We need sunglasses," said Carol. She ran up the stairs, and returned with two pairs of Gucci shades. Luke looked at her funny for a moment, then reluctantly put them on.
When they went back outside, it was still bright, but bearable. They began to walk because for some reason neither of them had a car yet. Not even halfway around the block, they were stopped by a huge group of people all clustered around something, squealing and shrieking.
"What's going on?" asked Luke.
A middle-aged man, most of his hair gone, turned to face them. "Howdy, fellow human!" the man said, violently shaking his arm up and down. "How ya doing?"
"Uh, mediocre-"
"You see here, sonny... we're all crowded up in here because we found a dog."
"A dog."
"Yep! Isn't that AWESOME!!?????" he shrieked, sounding not too different from a 5-year-old girl at a Justin Bieber concert.
"Uhh, okay..." said Luke. He and Carol continued their walk, awkwardly edging around the crowd. About ten minutes later, they arrived at the store, half-dead from heat stroke. They walked through the sliding doors to find nobody there, but all the lights on.
"This is a really weird day," muttered Carol. They started near the back of the store where the milk was kept in the fridges.
Where the fridges usually stood was instead a long, dark hallway. From down at the very end of it was a faint light and distant kazoo sounds. On the floor at their feet laid a half-eaten strawberry sucker.
Shivers ran down Luke's spine. Suddenly, the lights flickered.. Bztt, bztt, bztt... and went out.
Luke had one fear.
He could just barely make out the outline of Carol in the darkness. He couldn't see her expression, so he couldn't tell if she was as scared as him.
"Should we?" he asked, trying to sound nonchalant.
"Yeah." she whispered in reply. They cautiously began to make their way down the dark hallway, occasionally peeking into the doors on the sides of it. What they saw in the rooms mildly disturbed them.
As they continued down the hallway towards the light, bright but also dark, the kazoo sounds continued, louder and louder so. When they reached the end, they found that the light came from a door that had been left slightly opened. From inside, they heard the kazoo louder than ever, and a voice.
"Won't this be such fun?" said the voice. She giggled, bubbly and creepily. "Pass the aux cord, Darrell."
Holding their breath, Luke and Carol silently and slowly peeked into the room. In the room they saw a table with a flower pot and a large stereo system. For some reason, the flower bobbed up and down and had a creepy, uncanny little face, twisted into a sick grin.
And the woman. The woman wasn't half bad looking- Blonde hair, light skin- but everything about her made Luke highly uncomfortable.
She plugged a cord into the speaker and laughed coldly. "I know you're there." Lesley Gore turned her head 180 degrees to face them. Where eyes would have stared back were glowing red balls of light.
Luke and Carol were too scared to move. Lesley started cackling uncontrollably. Still turned to them, she flipped a switch on the stereo system. The ground shook as Sunshine, Lollipops, and rainbows blasted from the speaker at the highest volume imaginable.
"RUN!!!" yelled Luke. Carol probably didn't hear him at all, but got the message. Eardrums about to spontaneously combust and explode inside their heads, they both started running like mad down the hallway. At the end of the hall, the ground still vibrated, and Lesley's laugh echoed down the hallway over the sound of the song.
The vibrations were so strong, that bits of the ceiling began to crumble and fall. The building was going to collapse. Realizing this, they started running faster than they had ever run before.
Sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows Everything that's wonderful Is what I feel when we're together
They were almost to the exit. The lyrics continued to ring in their ears, as large chunks of walls and ceiling crashed around them.
Suddenly, the song got ten times louder, AND LOOOOVE IS HEEEEEERE TO0000 STAAAAAAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They lunged for the door, just as the building fell to the ground. The song died down with the dust, and its sound was replaced by the chattering of a crowd forming around them. The people seemed sane enough, or at least no longer brainwashed.
Luke barely had time to catch his breath before a group of people rushed him and Carol away from the destruction. But just before they did, out of the corner of his eye, laying on the sidewalk was a half-eaten sucker.
SEVERAL HOURS LATER
Lesley pushed aside the rubble of the grocery store roof. Such was nothing but a casualty, and there was work to be done.
"Darrell..." she called. In reply came a sound like nails on a chalkboard. Lesley grinned and moved towards the sound. Pushing aside bricks, she pulled her possessed demon flower, Darrell, out of the rubble. "That song was extremely powerful..." she said to herself. "if I can compose one even more sappy-happy, we'll have the entire world in our hands!!"
Lesley cackled maniacally.
